Fashion Designer Collaborates with Fabric Distributor to Create Face Masks for Combating COVID19

Updated: May 20

With the coronavirus spreading at an alarming rate, taking precautions and following safety guides has become more crucial. This makes it essential that everyone has at least one face mask.

However, with hundreds of thousands of people now in need of face masks, there is hardly enough supply of face masks to meet the demands. And due to this scarcity, so many people now make use of whatever object they can find like bandanas, tee shirts and plastic visors for nose/mouth protection. Unfortunately, most of these objects are uncomfortable and some even ineffective, leaving people vulnerable to the virus.

Thankfully, African Imports recently donated fabric to my brand to create face masks to help stop the spread of the virus. With the guidance of the CDC I am manufacturing cloth face masks made of 100% cotton to cover your nose and mouth. The masks has 2 layers of fabric for filtration. These Masks are made for use in public settings and other places where social distancing measures may be hard to maintain. This collaboration aims to create FREE face masks for everyone in need of one.

With the use of our face masks people can:

  • Refrain from touching their mouths and nose

To prevent the spread of the virus, we’ve been advised by medical practitioners to keep from touching our eyes, nose, and mouth. Simple as this directive is, most people are used to touching their noses and mouths on a whim. With our face masks, this can be prevented and reduce the risk of contracting the virus.

  • Protect themselves from the virus

If someone who has the virus coughs, sneezes or even talks to you, they could release the virus into the air which may get you infected. With the face masks from this collaboration, most people will be able to protect themselves from getting infected when out in public.

  • Wash their face masks

The face masks which will be made from this collaboration will be washable. This means, whenever you step out of the house you can wash your face masks and free them of germs before putting them on next time. This will greatly reduce the risk of contracting the virus!
